Artisan Mixer by KitchenAid
The Most Versatile Kitchen Appliance
Aside from our coffee maker and maybe our waffle iron (shh) don’t tell we use this appliance the most. Whether it’s for baking cakes, breakfast muffins, or transforming heavy cream into velvety piles of whipped cream, the KitchenAid 5 Quart Artisan Mixer is a necessity in our kitchen. Its classic beauty and utility means it never leaves the kitchen counter, so it’s always waiting at the ready to be used. We chose the red mixer to match our other appliances, but you can choose from about 15 colors, whether it’s something classic, or something funky, to match your personal style.
The 5 quart capacity is large enough to handle the batter for an entire cake, but the perfectly curved bowl edges means that the high-power beater can reach and complete even small jobs, like whipping a few egg whites. In addition, the ten speed setting means this guy can be used to stir, mix, cream, beat, and whip!
The traditional mixer comes with three attachments: a beater, a whip, and a dough hook. The beater is ideal for heavier mixtures such as cake and brownie batters, and can be used whenever a recipe tells you to beat, cream, or mash. The wire whisk attachment is designed to bring air into a lighter mixture, giving it a more full bodied smooth texture. Use this for egg whites, whipped cream, and meringues. The dough hook, as you can guess, is ideal for kneading bread doughs, and the high power motor means it can handle even the toughest, stickiest doughs.
If those three pieces aren’t enough for your needs, you can also purchase a whole assortment of attachments such as a pasta roller, a sausage caser, a meat grinder, and way more. So, think of this piece as a one stop shop for basically all of your kitchen appliance needs!
Yes, we’re extreme, but to be honest it’s pretty hard - maybe impossible - to imagine our lives without our KitchenAid mixer, and if you’re the kind of person who’s baked more than once ever, it’s hard to imagine your life without it, too. At a price point of nearly $300, it’s definitely no small investment; however, we believe in the quality and utility of this piece so much, we’d go as far as to say it’s the most important appliance any kitchen could have.
